As a community, we are entrusted with providing our children with the best possible education. Alpine School District has grown beyond its capacity to equitably provide the best educational resources and opportunities for children in our community. However, there is hope on the horizon. Six cities entered into an interlocal agreement to provide residents with a choice to split from Alpine School District and form a Central School District.

Those living in the Central District (Lehi, American Fork, Highland, Cedar Hills, Alpine & the Utah County portion of Draper) area have a unique opportunity to split from ASD. For the first time, citizens in this newly proposed district will decide their own destiny, by controlling how their tax dollars will be spent. One of the questions I get asked most often is what will a split cost? Anyone who is giving you a number or saying there will be x amount of a tax increase is not being truthful. So many of those factors are dependent on future school board decisions. But let’s break it down as to what those factors are.
